Friday Favorite: Silk’s Pure Almond Milk

“Rethink what you drink.”  I did!  Now I’m in love with Silk Pure Almond Milk.

For those of you who haven’t heard me mention this before; I have been trying switch up some foods in my diet due to some stomach problems I have been experiencing while running.  Decreasing the amount of dairy and gluten I consume, were at the top of my list.

A little problem though…I LOVE my cereal/granola and milk in the morning.  However, lucky for me, this is when I spotted Silk Pure Almond Milk at Wegman’s and decided to give it a try.  This proved to be one of my top 10 best ideas as it was a great dairy milk substitute AND a perfect match with my Glutenfreeda’s Apple Almond Honey Granola in the morning.  I love it so much that I go to bed at night excited to wake up and eat this beautiful combination!

Silk offers a wide range of PRODUCTS, but my focus is on their Pure Almond Unsweetened Vanilla Milk.  With half the calories of skim milk, Silk’s Unsweetened Vanilla comes in at 30 calories per serving!  Here are some additional benefits:

• No added sugar
• 50% more calcium than dairy milk2
• Excellent source of vitamin E
• No cholesterol or saturated fat
• Free of dairy, soy, lactose, gluten, casein, egg and MSG
• Verified by the Non-GMO Project’s product verification program
• No artificial colors or flavors

I am a huge Silk almond milk fan! I converted about 2 years ago and haven’t looked back since. My favorite treat is tossing chocolate almond milk, frozen banana, a little peanut butter, and some chia seeds in my Ninja and making a smoothie, so GOOD!

Hi Jenelle! Has limiting you dairy and gluten been helping? I have also been experiencing stomach issues a lot as I’m building speed & mileage and was curious. I’ve been reading your blog for a while but I think this is the first time I’m commenting. I love it!

I think limiting dairy has definitely helped. I’m not sure about the gluten-haven’t noticed major differences with that. What have you noticed or tried?

  6. I love this milk and with all the talk about additives in almond milks I’m glad to see that that this one does NOT have Carrageenan from what I can tell. Yay!

I drink silk everyday in cereal or a shake! I love it soooo much! I go through it so fast I buy two at a time always! Yummmmm! :0)

  8. I loveeeee Silk!! I use it in my smoothies/shakes and it tastes good in cereal too. I love the dark chocolate flavor, but I will drink the entire carton in a day. The unsweetened vanilla is my go to!

  9. Love that stuff!!

I’ve cut out dairy and it’s been fabulous. The best part has been unexpected weight loss!

I may have to give this a try. It’s been years since I’ve had a milk alternative and I just remember them being too sweet and artificial tasting. But it sounds like they’ve improved them considerably and I love that there is the unsweetened option!

  11. I have never tried it before, but all these posts are making me quite curious.

  12. I do like Silk! I like using it in smoothies, oatmeal and cereal. I’m not a big fan of just drinking any kind of milk plain, though.
