Last weekend I ran the FLRC WInter Chill 5k. This race is a part of a 5k road racing series, with #2 taking place this past Sunday. My plan was to run in each of the races and improve my 5k time as I went along. Unfortunately, the peroneal tendon in my right leg had other plans.
My husband and I decided to head up to Cornell University’s indoor track. I was hoping that running on the flat, soft surface would be easier on my tendon.
Track time! (in pictures)
The track.
Some running.
Husband running.
Mile Twenty Eight (do you see it?) Hint: not a peace sign. I’m pretty sure my husband hated every moment of taking this picture
- Have you ever had to change your race plans?…yes, too many times!
- Does your peroneal tendon get tight and cause pain?…yes, BOO!
- Do you workout or race on an indoor track?…yes, both, at Cornell.

I wish I had an indoor track! I love speedwork…until I marathon train I’m sure
Yes ive changed my race plans too many times for injuries or life events like having my first baby. All well worth it.
I rarely train on a track because there isn’t one nearby.
I have IT band problems on and off, very annoying.
Yes, one of the problems of living in the Northeast, can never count on the weather!! Cute pic though!
I had peroneal tendonitis (it was swollen!) in 2011. It was horrible. I had to stop running for a little while, and I actually got my first DNF because of it. I tried to run a 15K and I got 2 miles in and had to call it quits.
Take care of yourself!
